Bürgenstock Resort sits on the Bürgenberg, 500 meters above Lake Lucerne in central Switzerland. The Alpine Spa covers 10,000 square meters with five pools, saunas and a relaxation room, looking out over Lake Lucerne. It opens from 8am to 8pm. A second spa, at the Waldhotel, is built around a sustainable ethos and has an outdoor pool deck and a ladies only area.
Verbena by Christian Scharrer serves a seasonal home kitchen. Spices Kitchen & Terrace cooks Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Thai dishes on an overhanging platform, and Oak Grill works a wood-fired grill. The Michelin Guide awards the Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa three Keys.

The two indoor courts play in every season, including winter. The outdoor clay court and Bürgenstock Alpine Golf, which runs April to October, suit late spring through early autumn.
Write to tennis@burgenstockresort.com before you travel. The Diamond Domes open from 9am to 6pm, and the coaching is tailored to the individual player. Arrive by the MS Bürgenstock Catamaran from Lucerne and the funicular for the resort's own approach: 25 minutes on the water, then a ride up 500 meters.
