Set on 600 acres of Piedmont countryside east of Charlottesville, Keswick Hall reopened in 2021 after a multiyear renovation that pared the Italianate manor down to 80 rooms and suites, each fitted with Duxiana mattresses and views toward the Southwest Mountains. The estate anchors a working golf and country club built around Full Cry, one of Pete Dye's final designs, reshaped in 2013 from an earlier Arnold Palmer layout. A heated infinity pool spills toward the fairways, Marigold draws on chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's global pantry and the resort's own Oakdale Farm, and an eight-room spa introduced Virginia's first La Maison Valmont treatments in 2025. Monticello is a short drive away.

Full Cry · 16 (Par 3)
A 243-yard par 3 from the tournament tees, played across a small ravine spanned by a bridge fashioned from a repurposed train car — a nod to the region's rail history and one of Pete Dye's last design flourishes.

Fall
September through November brings crisp golf weather and Blue Ridge foliage along Full Cry's back nine, though the Horizon Pool runs heated year-round.

Features &
Amenities
Three details set Keswick Hall apart in Virginia's hunt country.

Full Cry
Pete Dye's redesign of a 1992 Arnold Palmer routing turned Full Cry into one of Virginia's most talked-about courses — and one of Dye's final projects before his death. The par-72 layout uses his signature coffin bunkers and railroad ties sparingly, favoring wide fairways and firm, fast bentgrass greens that reward a well-judged bump-and-run. The par-3 16th, played over a ravine on a bridge built from a repurposed train car, is the round's most photographed moment.

The Horizon Pool
The Horizon Pool is the resort's clearest sightline to the surrounding Southwest Mountains: an 80-foot, T-shaped infinity edge, heated and open year-round, with a cascading waterfall and cabana seating built into the terrace above Full Cry's back nine. Adults-only and never crowded, it functions as the unofficial living room of the club — the place members and hotel guests alike gather before dinner at Marigold.

The Grounds
Landscape architects Nelson Byrd Woltz reworked the grounds around the existing Italianate manor, threading walking paths through native Virginia plantings that link the hotel to five estate homes, the golf clubhouse, and the tennis center's red clay courts. From above, the result reads less like a resort than a private country holding — 600 acres of rolling Piedmont pasture framed by the Blue Ridge on the horizon.
