Somerby Golf Club
Somerby Golf Club is an exclusive private club in Byron, Minnesota, featuring a championship course co-designed by PGA Tour champion and Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman and acclaimed architect John Fought. The 7,209-yard layout boasts a demanding slope rating of 147 on immaculate bentgrass, making it one of the most challenging private courses in the upper Midwest. Part of the Evergreen Clubs family, Somerby delivers a world-class golf experience in the rolling countryside near Rochester.
- John Fought and Tom Lehman co-design blending the rolling hills, wetlands, and natural ponds of the Rochester, Minnesota corridor into a layout ranked among Golf Digest's top courses in the state
- A one-acre 18-hole putting course — the largest in Minnesota — functions as both a pre-round warmup and a standalone strategic challenge
- Generous bent grass fairways with strategically placed wetland hazards reward disciplined positioning without demanding target golf on every tee
- Ranked 17th in Golf Digest's Best in State for Minnesota in 2025-26, a consistent benchmark for a private club in a smaller market
- Tom Lehman's connection to Minnesota golf — the Rochester native and 1996 Open Champion — gives the course a regional identity that members carry with some pride

On Property
May - September
Minnesota's short golf season concentrates at its best from late May through September, when the bent grass fairways and greens at Somerby are fully established and the southeastern Minnesota hill country around Byron shows at its most forgiving.
Somerby's 18-hole putting course — the largest in Minnesota and the first of its kind at a private club in the Midwest — is worth an hour before your round as a legitimate green-reading workout, not a novelty. The bentgrass surfaces mirror the putting speed and subtle break tendencies you'll face on the main course.
