View All Photos The Empire Brunei
The Empire Brunei is an opulent resort on the shores of the South China Sea, built by the Sultan of Brunei. The Jack Nicklaus-designed championship course winds through tropical forests and along the coastline, and the resort's palatial architecture — featuring an 800-meter beachfront and gold-leafed interiors — is a testament to Bruneian grandeur.
- Jack Nicklaus Signature layout with the front nine riding elevated ground above the coast and the back nine descending to the South China Sea shoreline
- The 15th hole — a 549-yard par 5 tracing the beach edge — is the most photographed hole in Brunei and a perennial Asian Tour venue
- Full floodlit night golf on all 18 holes, a rare amenity that doubles the property's golf schedule
- Private beaches, lagoons, and five pools integrated into a resort complex scaled to match the golf's ambition
- Historic host of the Brunei Open on the Asian Tour, lending the course a competitive pedigree unusual for a resort layout

The Empire Hotel & Country Club · 15th (Par 5)
A 549-yard Nicklaus par 5 that runs directly alongside a pristine South China Sea beach, with sprawling bunkers pressing from the tee and again on the approach to a heavily defended green. The prevailing coastal breeze and the horizon-wide water view make club selection and shot shape a genuine conversation on every shot.

On Property
January - March
Brunei's brief dry season runs January through March, offering the lowest humidity and fewest afternoon rain interruptions on a course that is otherwise playable year-round.
Book a floodlit twilight round — the Empire is one of the few courses in Southeast Asia with full 18-hole night lighting, and the back nine's descent toward the South China Sea takes on an entirely different character under the lamps. Arrange a caddie who knows the 6th tee: the gorge carry looks roughly twice as far as it actually plays.
