RTJ Sr.'s redesign introduced water hazards and precisely placed bunkering that tighten the driving corridor against the backdrop of Mount Peg, demanding accuracy off the tee on a course that otherwise rewards a measured game.

Vermont summers are idyllic; October foliage turns the course into one of the most visually distinctive rounds in New England, with RTJ Sr.'s fairways framed by peaks turning amber and scarlet.
Visit during peak foliage (mid-October) — the covered bridges and village green are straight out of a painting, and the Robert Trent Jones Sr. course plays through sugar maples at full color. The Red Rooster's farm-to-table menu changes with the harvest and is one of Vermont's most consistent dining experiences, so reserve the same evening as your round.

Woodstock Country Club Golf
Founded in 1895 and redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the 1960s, Woodstock Country Club is the oldest public golf course in Vermont, playing to a par-70 layout through the Kedron Valley with Mount Peg as backdrop. Jones compensated for the constrained acreage by routing through the brook's high banks and tight corridors, producing a course that demands precision over length. Golf Advisor ranks it the number-one course in the state.
The Spa at Woodstock Inn
The LEED-certified Forbes 4-Star Spa operates across 10 treatment rooms with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced products aligned to Vermont's agricultural calendar. Wassail Weekend
Now in its fifth decade, Wassail Weekend fills the village green and historic streets each December with a Saturday horse parade — horses, carriages, and sleighs rounding The Village Green twice to the sound of bells — alongside decorated homes, live music, and programming hosted by the Inn. The 41st edition drew thousands of visitors in 2025, and the 42nd is confirmed for December 2026.
Winter Glow
An extended seasonal program the resort hosts from late November through mid-January, featuring illuminated grounds, nightly wine and cheese tastings in the lobby alongside the life-size gingerbread house, and curated programming tied to the Nordic Center season. It functions as the atmospheric container for Wassail Weekend and carries the celebratory tone through the full winter period.
