About

Woodstock Inn & Resort

The Woodstock Inn & Resort sits on the green of one of America's prettiest small towns in the heart of Vermont. The Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed course is set amid rolling hills and the Kedron Brook, offering quintessential New England golf surrounded by covered bridges, farms, and stunning fall foliage.

  • Founded in 1895, Woodstock Country Club is the oldest public golf course in Vermont — RTJ Sr.'s 1963 redesign modernized the routing while preserving its Kedron Valley character
  • Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the same grounds as the golf course make Woodstock genuinely four-season, not merely marketed that way
  • Saskadena Six ski area is resort-owned, giving inn guests direct lift access without leaving the property portfolio
  • Falconry program is one of only a handful offered at American resorts — instruction covers both Harris's hawks and red-tailed hawks on the inn's meadow grounds
  • Woodstock village, a five-minute walk from the inn, is one of the most intact 19th-century New England streetscapes still in active use — a useful anchor for any non-golf day in the itinerary

The Course

  • Woodstock Country Club — 18 holes, par 70, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Signature Hole

Woodstock Country Club · 4 (Par 4)

A 403-yard par 4 rated the most difficult hole in Vermont by Vermont Magazine. RTJ Sr.'s redesign introduced water hazards and precisely placed bunkering that tighten the driving corridor against the backdrop of Mount Peg, demanding accuracy off the tee on a course that otherwise rewards a measured game.

Best Time to Visit

June - October

Vermont summers are idyllic; October foliage turns the course into one of the most visually distinctive rounds in New England, with RTJ Sr.'s fairways framed by peaks turning amber and scarlet.

LXV Insider

Visit during peak foliage (mid-October) — the covered bridges and village green are straight out of a painting, and the Robert Trent Jones Sr. course plays through sugar maples at full color. The Red Rooster's farm-to-table menu changes with the harvest and is one of Vermont's most consistent dining experiences, so reserve the same evening as your round.

Features &
Amenities

The Woodstock Inn and Resort anchors Vermont's most storied village green, offering a Robert Trent Jones Sr. golf course, a LEED-certified Forbes 4-Star spa, and a Nordic center with 28 miles of groomed trails — all within walking distance of Woodstock's Federal-period architecture.

Woodstock Country Club Golf

Woodstock Country Club Golf

Founded in 1895 and redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the 1960s, Woodstock Country Club is the oldest public golf course in Vermont, playing to a par-70 layout through the Kedron Valley with Mount Peg as backdrop. Jones compensated for the constrained acreage by routing through the brook's high banks and tight corridors, producing a course that demands precision over length. Golf Advisor ranks it the number-one course in the state.

The Spa at Woodstock Inn

The Spa at Woodstock Inn

The LEED-certified Forbes 4-Star Spa operates across 10 treatment rooms with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced products aligned to Vermont's agricultural calendar. The spa boutique carries the product lines used in treatments, and the program is designed to shift substantially between summer and winter — summer emphasizing outdoor-activity recovery, winter leaning toward warming and restoration treatments.

Nordic Center and Farm-to-Table Dining

Nordic Center and Farm-to-Table Dining

The Woodstock Nordic Center, owned and operated by the resort, maintains 28 miles of groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails suited to all ability levels, with fat-bike access in shoulder seasons. The Kelly Way Gardens supply the kitchen at multiple outlets — the Red Rooster serves as the main dining room, with Richardson's Tavern, Perley's Pourhouse, The Fairway Grill, and the Conservatory rounding out an unusually varied on-site dining program.

Winter Glow

An extended seasonal program the resort hosts from late November through mid-January, featuring illuminated grounds, nightly wine and cheese tastings in the lobby alongside the life-size gingerbread house, and curated programming tied to the Nordic Center season. It functions as the atmospheric container for Wassail Weekend and carries the celebratory tone through the full winter period.
