View All Photos Half Moon
Half Moon is one of the Caribbean's most storied resorts, spanning 400 lush acres along a two-mile crescent beach in Montego Bay. The Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed championship course is among the finest in the Caribbean, and the resort has welcomed royalty, world leaders, and discerning travelers since 1954.
- Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s 1962 design, renovated in 2004 by Roger Rulewich, routes through a former sugarcane plantation on the slopes above Montego Bay — one of the Caribbean's most storied historic settings
- The Fern Tree Spa occupies its own dedicated building within the 400-acre property, offering treatments that draw on Jamaican botanical ingredients
- The Equestrian Centre is among the largest hotel-operated stables in the Caribbean, with beach and trail rides available at dawn before the heat arrives
- A private dolphin lagoon on-property is one of the few resort-controlled marine experiences in the region
- The resort's 400-acre scale means the main beach, golf course, spa, tennis complex, and water sports centre are each meaningfully separated — the property functions more like an estate than a hotel
The Course
- Half Moon Golf Course — 18 holes, par 72, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Half Moon Golf Course · 18th (Par 4)
A demanding closing par four on Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s bow-tie layout, where the most concentrated collection of fairway bunkers on the course — 26 in total across the round — frames a heavily contoured green that must be held from the correct angle. The trade winds off the Caribbean complicate every club decision on this exposed finishing hole.

Features &
Amenities
Half Moon spans 400 acres and two miles of private beachfront in Rose Hall, east of Montego Bay, with a Robert Trent Jones Sr. championship course, a full-service equestrian centre, and a spa built across overwater bungalows in a botanical garden setting.

Robert Trent Jones Championship Golf
The par-72 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1962 and later revised by Roger Rulewich, stretching from 5,035 to 7,120 yards across a retired sugarcane estate on hillside terrain. Twenty-six fairway bunkers and consistent Caribbean trade winds provide the primary challenges. The course has hosted the Jamaica Open Golf Championship and European PGA Seniors Tour events, and a full Golf Academy offers instruction across all levels.

Fern Tree, a Salamander Spa
Fern Tree occupies a dedicated botanical garden with 12 treatment rooms, including overwater bungalows, along with aromatherapy steam and sauna rooms, a lagoon pool, an Ital Cafe serving fresh juices, and an outdoor yoga pavilion. Treatments draw on indigenous Jamaican plants, herbs, and fruit grown on the property. A meditation labyrinth and relaxation lounge complete the facility.

Equestrian Centre
The Half Moon Equestrian Centre has operated for over 30 years under the direction of Trina deLisser, an FEI-certified Level 2 instructor and international show jumper. Activities include beach rides into the Caribbean Sea, polo instruction, jumping lessons, arena dressage, and bareback swimming with horses. The centre also runs a horse-rescue program and therapeutic riding sessions for guests with special needs.
