About

Lucero Residences Golf & Wellness Resort

Cupped at 1,000 meters in Panama's Chiriquí highlands, Lucero unfolds across a former coffee estate where cloud forest meets a par-72 course designed by J. Michael Poellot — the country's highest golf course, and its only one with bentgrass greens. Canopy Suites and treehouses, raised into the tree line on stilts and rope bridges, look out over fairways toward Boca Chica and the Pacific, twenty minutes from the market town of Boquete and under an hour from David. Days move at altitude speed: a morning round chased by drifting mist, an infinity pool and hot tub suspended above the valley, and farm-to-table plates at Seasons built from the same volcanic soil surrounding the property. Scarlet macaws pass overhead; Volcán Barú holds the horizon.

Best Time to Visit

December–April

Panama's dry season (verano) firms up the fairways and clears the highland air for open views of Volcán Barú. The wetter months still play well most mornings, with rain typically arriving by afternoon.

LXV Insider

Lucero plays at 3,280 feet, the highest golf course in Panama — the thin mountain air adds distance off the tee, but thick highland rough punishes anything off line, so pack a few extra balls. It's also the only course in the country with bentgrass greens, which roll noticeably different from the Bermuda grass found elsewhere in Panama.

Features &
Amenities

Three vantage points capture what makes Lucero singular — a mountain course unlike any other in the country, an infinity pool suspended above the valley, and a suite built into the trees.

The Highest Course in Panama

The Highest Course in Panama

At 1,000 meters in the Chiriquí highlands, Lucero's par-72 course was cut into former coffee land by designer J. Michael Poellot and remains the only course in the country with bentgrass greens. Holes climb toward ridgeline views of Volcán Barú and drop through jungle corridors thick with birdlife, culminating at the 14th — known to members as the 'infinity green' — before opening onto glimpses of the Pacific.

An Infinity Pool Above the Valley

An Infinity Pool Above the Valley

The clubhouse terrace holds an infinity pool and hot tub set against the fairways and the peaks beyond, the kind of spot where a round ends and the afternoon slows. Clay tennis courts and hiking trails thread through the surrounding cloud forest, where scarlet macaws and butterflies are as much a part of the scenery as the golf.

Life in the Canopy

Life in the Canopy

Lucero's Canopy Suites and treehouses are built into the tree line itself — floor-to-ceiling glass, private decks, and, in the treehouses' case, rope-bridge entries and 270-degree views toward Boca Chica and the Pacific. It's a stay built around elevation, in both senses: physical height and a slower, quieter register of luxury.
