Cupped at 1,000 meters in Panama's Chiriquí highlands, Lucero unfolds across a former coffee estate where cloud forest meets a par-72 course designed by J. Known among members for its 'infinity green,' the 14th plays out toward a horizon of ridgelines with 360-degree views — one of several holes, alongside 5 and 6, where the course opens onto the Pacific and the volcanic peaks that surround it.

Panama's dry season (verano) firms up the fairways and clears the highland air for open views of Volcán Barú. The wetter months still play well most mornings, with rain typically arriving by afternoon.
Lucero plays at 3,280 feet, the highest golf course in Panama — the thin mountain air adds distance off the tee, but thick highland rough punishes anything off line, so pack a few extra balls. It's also the only course in the country with bentgrass greens, which roll noticeably different from the Bermuda grass found elsewhere in Panama.

The Highest Course in Panama
At 1,000 meters in the Chiriquí highlands, Lucero's par-72 course was cut into former coffee land by designer J. Michael Poellot and remains the only course in the country with bentgrass greens. Holes climb toward ridgeline views of Volcán Barú and drop through jungle corridors thick with birdlife, culminating at the 14th — known to members as the 'infinity green' — before opening onto glimpses of the Pacific.

The clubhouse terrace holds an infinity pool and hot tub set against the fairways and the peaks beyond, the kind of spot where a round ends and the afternoon slows. Clay tennis courts and hiking trails thread through the surrounding cloud forest, where scarlet macaws and butterflies are as much a part of the scenery as the golf.
