Ojai Valley Inn is a landmark resort nestled in the Topatopa Mountains of Southern California. The George C. Thomas Jr.-designed course, dating to 1923, is one of the most scenic in the West, and the resort's 31,000 sq ft spa, artist's cottage, and apothecary add to an atmosphere of creative renewal.
- George C. Thomas Jr. designed the original course in 1923 — the same architect behind Riviera and Bel-Air Country Club — making this one of California's most historically significant golf layouts
- The 'Lost Holes' (16 and 17), restored in 1999 after 50 years of absence, add a layer of golf history unique to any American resort course
- Spa Ojai's 31,000-square-foot facility includes the Kuyam, a heated communal mud room that draws on Chumash wellness traditions
- The Artist Cottage residency program has brought working painters and ceramicists to the property since the 1970s — a genuinely unusual cultural amenity
- Ojai's inland micro-climate and the Topatopa Mountains produce a Pink Moment at sunset that has drawn artists and writers to the valley for over a century

A 203-yard downhill par-3 framed by eleven bunkers, known as 'Captain's Pride.' This hole is one of two restored 'Lost Holes' — original George Thomas designs from 1923 that vanished when the course was rerouted after WWII and were only returned to play in 1999 after an eight-month renovation.

Ojai's inland valley heats significantly in summer; spring and fall deliver mild temperatures, low fire risk, and the conditions that make the Pink Moment most vivid.
The 'Pink Moment' — when the Topatopa Mountains turn deep rose at sunset — is most reliable in spring and fall; position yourself on the back nine's 16th tee around 7pm to watch it unfold over the course. The spa's Kuyam treatment, a heated communal mud chamber with guided meditation, is unlike anything else in California.

Features &
Amenities
Operating continuously since 1923 on a 220-acre hillside campus in California's Ojai Valley, the inn holds a Forbes Five-Star spa and a Forbes Five-Star restaurant alongside an 18-hole golf course designed by George Thomas Jr. — the same architect behind Riviera and LACC North.

Spa Ojai
The 31,000-square-foot spa is housed in a four-story Spanish Colonial Revival building with a 50-foot bell tower designed by architect David Bury and added in 1997. Its 24 treatment rooms — each named for local flora including cedar, poppy, and sage — carry a Forbes Five-Star rating. Facilities include two pools, a full gym, Mind and Body programming, and a spa cafe serving juices, grain bowls, and light fare.

George Thomas Golf Course
The 18-hole course was laid out by George C. Thomas Jr. and Billy Bell in 1923 — the same season Thomas began work on Riviera Country Club — and meanders through ancient oaks and seasonal streams at par 70 over 6,292 yards. Jay Morrish completed a redesign in 1988, and two original Thomas holes were restored in 1999. The course has hosted seven Senior PGA Tour events, drawing Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Gary Player, and Ben Crenshaw.

Olivella Fine Dining
Olivella holds a Forbes Five-Star rating and serves a four-course California-Italian menu by Chef Andrew Foskey emphasizing valley-to-table sourcing from the surrounding Ojai Valley agricultural community. The restaurant's alfresco terrace faces the Topatopa Mountains, positioning guests to witness the valley's famed Pink Moment — a 10-to-15 minute phenomenon at dusk when quartz and feldspar in the mountain rock catch the last light and glow pink and lavender.
Signature
Events
The inn anchors two recurring annual events on its grounds, and sits within a short walk of the Ojai Music Festival and the historic Ojai Tennis Tournament.
Ojai Wine and Food Festival
An intimate format bringing winemakers, chefs, and culinary educators together on the inn's grounds for tastings, cooking demonstrations, seminars, and tiered tasting experiences. Access is structured across Silver, Gold, and Platinum packages.

Ojai Music Festival
Founded in 1947 and held at Libbey Bowl in the center of town, a short distance from the inn, this is one of the oldest contemporary classical music festivals in the United States. The programming is consistently adventurous — each edition features a Music Director who shapes a full week of concerts, symposia, and community performances — and the inn is the natural base property for festival attendees.
Ojai Tennis Tournament
The oldest and largest amateur tennis tournament held continuously in one American location — first contested in 1896 — the Ojai draws approximately 1,800 players across 34 divisions to Libbey Park, with the inn closely associated with the event's century-long tradition. Alumni include Billie Jean King, Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors, and Tracy Austin.
