View All Photos Nemacolin
Nemacolin is a 2,000-acre luxury resort in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania, offering an extraordinary range of experiences from two championship golf courses to a private wildlife safari, art collection, and adventure park. The Pete Dye-designed Mystic Rock course is among the finest in the Northeast.
- Mystic Rock ranks on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Public Courses list and hosted the PGA Tour's 84 Lumber Classic
- Pete Dye's 7,550-yard layout uses the Laurel Highlands terrain relentlessly — ravines, forced carries, and split fairways characterize the back nine
- Shepherd's Rock (Pete Dye and Tim Liddy) offers a second distinct 18 holes, also ranked among the best casino-resort courses in the country
- The wildlife safari on resort grounds features zebras, bison, and exotic animals in a genuine open-habitat setting
- A Shooting Academy, Adventure Park, and on-site ski area make Nemacolin a viable four-season destination in a way few golf resorts can claim

Mystic Rock · 5th (Par 5)
At 598 yards, this downhill par-5 splits into two approach routes — a conservative high line or an aggressive low line past a pond fed by a 30-foot waterfall. A statue of Chief Nemacolin stands atop the falls beside the double green, giving the hole an unmistakable visual identity and forcing a genuine risk-reward decision on the second shot.

On Property
May - October
The Laurel Highlands are at peak green through summer; September and October bring some of Pennsylvania's best fall color draped directly over the fairways.
Book Mystic Rock's 5th hole tee time at mid-morning when the light hits the 30-foot waterfall beside the green at full angle — the Chief Nemacolin statue and the pond create one of Pete Dye's most theatrical par-5 settings. The wildlife safari is a genuine half-day commitment; schedule it for a rest day between rounds.

Features &
Amenities
Occupying more than 2,000 acres of Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands, Nemacolin holds three AAA Five Diamond properties under one ownership — a rarity anywhere — alongside two Pete Dye golf courses, a 150-acre shooting and sporting clays facility, and a 1,000-piece private art collection valued at over $45 million.

Mystic Rock and Shepherd's Rock Golf
Both courses were designed by Pete Dye. Mystic Rock (7,526 yards, par 72) served as the PGA Tour's 84 Lumber Classic host from 2003 to 2006 and carries a slope rating of 149 from the tips, demanding the kind of precision Dye's designs are built to reward. Shepherd's Rock (formerly The Links; rebuilt and reopened in 2017 at 7,151 yards) features a signature par-3 fifth hole that plays 214 yards downhill to an infinity-edge green.

Rod and Range Club
The 150-acre Rod and Range Club is one of the most developed private shooting facilities attached to any American resort, with two sporting clay courses, 35 stations, multiple tower configurations, a covered heated five-stand, and NSCA-certified instructors on staff. A 3D archery range, fly fishing with Orvis-endorsed guides, horseback riding, and 88 miles of on-property Jeep trails complete the outdoor sporting program.

Lautrec Restaurant and Art Collection
Lautrec holds both Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond designations and serves a seven-course tasting menu in a room hung with six original Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec lithographs. The broader Hardy Family Art Collection spans more than 1,000 objects — including works by Fernando Botero, Frank Stella, and Dale Chihuly, alongside 175 outdoor sculptures across the grounds — displayed throughout the property and accessible via guided tour.
