About

Sea Cliff Resort & Spa Zanzibar

Sea Cliff Resort & Spa is perched on a dramatic cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean on Zanzibar's western coast, 25 minutes from historic Stone Town. This resort blends Swahili architecture with modern luxury and features Zanzibar's only golf course — a 9-hole Peter Matkovich design that plays as 18 holes with the final two holes alongside the Indian Ocean.

  • Only golf course on the island of Zanzibar, a Peter Matkovich design that routes through tropical bush, a former sand quarry, and mangrove swamp before finishing alongside the Indian Ocean
  • Zuri Rituals Spa, a continental-level World Luxury Award winner with five treatment rooms, whirlpool tub, steam room, and sauna perched above the coastline
  • Two infinity pools and a private beach with jetty on the northwest coast of the island, 25 minutes from Stone Town's UNESCO-listed historic quarter
  • Water sports center, horse riding, and floodlit tennis courts give the property genuine sporting depth beyond golf for multi-day stays
  • Position near Mangapwani — site of 19th-century slave caves — adds a layer of cultural and historical context unavailable at mainland properties

The Course

  • Zanzibar Golf Club — 9 holes, par 71, designed by Peter Matkovich
Signature Hole

Zanzibar Golf Club · 9th (Par 3)

A 130-to-145-metre par 3 that plays directly toward the Indian Ocean, with the sea filling the entire backdrop behind the pin. Tropical scrub and the remnants of an old sand quarry guard the front of the green, and any misjudgment of the coastal breeze leaves the approach in unforgiving territory.

Best Time to Visit

June - October

The long dry season on Zanzibar's northwest coast brings steady southeast trade winds, low humidity, and calm Indian Ocean conditions ideal for both golf and water sports.

LXV Insider

Request a tee time for the final two holes as the sun drops toward the Indian Ocean — the course meanders past a mangrove swamp before routing alongside the water, and that light on the 9th green is the kind that makes golfers forget their score. The Zuri Rituals Spa is a World Luxury Award winner; book treatments in the couples room with the whirlpool tub overlooking the coast.
