View All Photos The Wigwam
The Wigwam is a historic 1929 resort set on 440 acres in Arizona's West Valley, featuring 54 holes of championship golf including the Gold Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. — consistently ranked among Arizona's best. The resort's adobe casitas and palm-lined grounds offer an authentic Southwestern experience.
- Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s Gold Course, nicknamed 'Arizona's Monster,' stretches to 7,345 yards and has hosted US Open and US Amateur qualifying since 1965
- All 18 of RTJ Sr.'s original elevated greens were preserved untouched during the 2015 renovation — a rare act of architectural restraint
- Three distinct RTJ Sr. courses (Gold, Blue, Red) on property allow back-to-back days without repeating a layout
- 26,000-square-foot LeMonds Aveda Spa, one of the largest resort spa footprints in Arizona
- Adobe casita accommodations trace their design language to the original 1929 resort — low profiles, warm tile, and covered verandas that frame the desert rather than override it
The Courses
- Gold Course — 18 holes, par 72, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
- Blue Course — 18 holes, par 72, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
- Red Course — 18 holes, par 70
Gold Course · 10 (Par 5)
At 660 yards from the tips, the 10th is the longest hole on 'Arizona's Monster' and a genuine endurance test. A sweeping layout with RTJ Sr.'s signature elevated green demands three precise shots — any miss short or right leaves a nearly unplayable recovery on a putting surface that slopes hard away from the approach.

On Property
October - April
Arizona's peak season delivers dry, warm days perfect for desert golf with the Gold Course's small, elevated greens showing their true difficulty in cool, calm morning conditions.
The Gold Course plays its full 7,345 yards into the afternoon wind — tee off at 7am while temperatures are in the mid-60s, then spend the back nine at your leisure knowing the prevailing westerly hasn't yet picked up. The 26,000-square-foot LeMonds Aveda Spa is best saved for post-round; its desert stone treatment rooms feel genuinely unhurried mid-afternoon.

Features &
Amenities
The Wigwam in Litchfield Park has operated continuously since 1929 and holds 54 holes of championship golf across three distinct courses, a full-service Aveda spa, and multiple dining venues on 440 acres just 25 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor.

54 Holes Across Three Courses
The Gold and Blue courses were designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and have since been updated by Tom Lehman Design; the Red Course was laid out by Arizona Golf Hall of Famer Robert Lawrence. The Gold Course in particular carries national rankings and draws competitive play. The resort hosts more than 20 junior golf events annually, including the Wigwam Interclub Challenge, a 54-hole Pro-Am first contested in 1989.

LeMond's Aveda Salon-Spa
LeMond's Aveda Salon-Spa draws on Aveda's plant-derived formulations for massages, facials, and body treatments that incorporate desert botanicals and marine minerals. The spa pairs with a fitness center and three outdoor pools, one of which includes water slides suited to younger guests.

Litchfield's and Red Allen's Dining
Litchfield's serves as the resort's primary dining room with a menu anchored in regional Arizona ingredients. Red Allen's Bar and Grill operates as a more casual alternative with a dog-friendly patio — a deliberate nod to the resort's community roots. The Wigwam Bar connects both venues for pre-dinner drinks.
Signature
Events
The Wigwam hosts two recurring annual arts festivals and the long-running Interclub Challenge golf Pro-Am.
Wigwam Fine Art and Wine Festival
More than 100 juried artists transform the resort's front lawn into an outdoor gallery across a multi-day weekend event that pairs original visual art with curated wine and food pairings. The festival has run for more than a decade under Vermillion Promotions and draws collectors from across the Southwest.

Wigwam Interclub Challenge
A 54-hole Pro-Am played across the three championship courses each January, the Interclub Challenge has been contested annually since 1989. The 2026 edition ran January 6 through 11 and continues to serve as a benchmark competitive event on the Arizona resort golf calendar.
Wigwam Holiday Festival of Arts
A three-day arts and entertainment event hosted each December that pairs original work from regional and national artists with live music and seasonal programming on the resort grounds. The event is produced by Vermillion Promotions alongside the larger Litchfield Park holiday season.
