The Plantation Course at Kapalua · 18th (Par 5)
At 677 yards from the tips, this downhill par-5 is one of the longest finishing holes on the PGA Tour. The fairway sweeps left off the ridge with the Pacific and Molokai filling the horizon; a penalty zone runs the entire left edge, and the natural amphitheater green has decided more than one tournament on the final shot.

Kapalua's leeward position keeps it drier than the rest of Maui; January adds the PGA Tour and prime whale watching, making it a genuine year-round destination.
The Plantation Course hosts the PGA Tour's Sentry Tournament of Champions each January — LXV can arrange gallery access for a front-row view of the season opener. Time sunset dinner at the Cliff House to coincide with whale watching season: humpbacks congregate in the Pailolo Channel from December through April.
Joining Montage Kapalua Bay
Resort spa/wellness membership (non-golf; golf via Kapalua Club for property owners/residents only). Montage Kapalua Bay is a luxury resort with no standalone golf club membership open to the public. It does offer a Spa Montage Wellness Membership open to local Maui residents, providing access to the spa, fitness, and pool facilities. Golf at the Kapalua courses (Plantation and Bay) is available to resort guests on a pay-per-round basis; private Kapalua Club access is tied to real estate ownership.

Plantation Course at Kapalua
The Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore-designed Plantation Course stretches 7,411 yards at par 73 across the mountain slopes above the bay, and served for years as the PGA Tour's season-opening venue. The companion Bay Course, opened in 1975, has hosted more than 20 professional tournaments. Tee time arrangements for both courses can be made through the resort concierge.
Spa Montage Kapalua Bay
The 40,000-square-foot spa houses more than 15 treatment rooms, including outdoor open-air hale for treatments under the Maui sky, a bamboo waterfall, cedar sauna, and cascading whirlpool. Signature offerings draw on Hawaiian tradition, including Lomi Lomi bodywork performed with long rhythmic strokes intended to release physical and emotional tension. An infinity pool and dedicated movement studio round out the facility.
Cane and Canoe Oceanfront Dining
The resort's signature restaurant serves breakfast and dinner with an emphasis on locally sourced Hawaiian ingredients, positioned directly above Kapalua Bay with unobstructed views toward Lanai and Molokai. The Hideaway and Hana Hou Bar complete the food and beverage program, the latter offering poolside ahi and ceviche alongside sunset cocktails on the patio.

The Sentry
The PGA Tour's traditional season opener has been played on the Plantation Course since 1999, bringing the Tour's winners to Kapalua each January. The 2026 edition paused while the Plantation recovers from drought conditions on its fairways.
Kapalua Wine and Food Festival
Running for more than four decades, this culinary festival is hosted by the Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua on the neighboring property and draws James Beard-recognized chefs, major winery principals, and Hawaii-based culinary talent across four days of dinners, tastings, and seminars. Montage guests are well-positioned to attend, given the properties' proximity along the Kapalua coastline.

Approximately 34 miles and a 50-minute drive along the Honoapiilani Highway. The primary commercial gateway to Maui, with nonstop service from the US mainland on all major carriers.
Kapalua-West Maui Airport (JHM)
Less than 5 miles from the resort, but serves commuter and charter aircraft only. Convenient for inter-island connections or private aircraft arriving from Honolulu.
Private aviation via JHM places guests within minutes of the property; helicopter transfers from OGG are available through third-party operators and can reduce ground transit time significantly.
