The Ranch at Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach, CA

A coastal canyon retreat in the heart of Laguna Beach

The Ranch at Laguna Beach is an 87-acre canyon resort nestled in Aliso and Wood Canyons, blending Southern California's coastal charm with rustic luxury. The GEO Certified 9-hole par-32 course sits in the canyon floor with elevation changes on every fairway, and the resort sits directly across from Aliso Beach.

The Golf

The course

Signature Hole

The 6th · Ben Brown's Golf Course · Par 3

A 140-yard par 3 that plays across Aliso Creek, which cuts directly in front of the green at the base of Aliso and Wood Canyons. Tall creek-bed reeds and an unusually long flagstick manipulate depth perception, and the creek — which ultimately spills into the Pacific Ocean — provides genuine penal consequence for any short shot.

The Estate

Life at The Ranch at Laguna Beach

Folded into Aliso Canyon on 87 acres behind Laguna's coastline, The Ranch is Orange County's only beachfront golf resort — small, sustainable, and deliberately unhurried.

Nine Holes in the Canyon

The par-32 course threads the canyon floor with no homes in sight — a 1959 layout kept walkable and GEO Certified for environmental stewardship, with GPS carts and TaylorMade rentals.

Harvest

The farm-to-table dining room sources from the resort's own half-acre farm under Executive Chef Kyle St. John, with 18 craft beers on tap and canyon views down the fairways.

House of Hudson Spa

An intimate spa with massage, facials, infrared sauna, and cold plunge — scaled to the property's 97 rooms rather than a convention crowd.

When to go

March - May

Southern California's spring brings reliably mild temperatures into the canyon, wildflowers on the surrounding hillsides, and clear air before summer marine layer sets in along the coast.

The insider's note

Ask the pro shop to assign you hole 6 last in your loop — the par-3 plays 140 yards over Aliso Creek, which cuts in front of the green, and the combination of tall creek-side reeds and an extra-long flagstick can genuinely distort depth perception even for experienced players. Stay for lunch at The Harvest afterward; the canyon view from the patio is the best seat in Laguna.
